RADIO 1: ROY WOOD STARS IN 50th ANNIVERSARY BBC REPORT

It was a pleasant surprise this morning (Friday 29th September) to see The Move, ELO and Wizzard founder Roy Wood taking part in a BBC Breakfast report on the 50th anniversary of the first broadcast by BBC Radio 1 on this day and date in 1967. Many folks are, of course, aware that Roy penned The Move's #2 hit "Flowers In The Rain" and that it was the first record picked up by legendary DJ Tony Blackburn and played on air.
But for me, it was great to see Woody getting nationwide exposure for something other than a certain Christmas classic as he briefly recalled being asleep and missing the magic moment as a mere 19 year old whilst he too entered British broadcasting history alongside Carl Wayne, Bev Bevan, Trevor Burton and Chris 'Ace' Kefford.
Yours Truly KJS is and always will be a massive Roy Wood fan! elobeatlesforever (elobf) are proud to follow and feature Roy and his career - past, present and future - as he embarks on a series of over twenty UK dates between October and December from Glasgow to Bilston to Swansea with his Rock 'n' Roll Band!
